How is the procedure for “Settling funeral benefits for voluntary social insurance participants, preserving the period of insurance coverage upon death” carried out?

Based on point 9.1, clause 9, Section III of the Appendix accompanying Decision No. 896/QD-BHXH of the General Director of Vietnam Social Security, the procedure for implementing this administrative procedure is as follows:

1. The deceased’s relatives choose to submit documents in one of the following forms:

a. Through electronic transactions: Relatives of the deceased register to receive authentication codes and send electronic documents to the Public Service Portal of VSS or through I-VAN Organization; in case the paper documents are not converted to electronic format, they send the entire paper dossier to the social insurance agency by post. For the Declaration of relatives: submit directly or send a paper copy to the social security agency by post.

b. Through the post office.

c. Directly at the social security agency.

d. Through the communal People’s Committee.

2. Receiving the result: Relatives of the deceased receive:

  • Relevant paper documents in the registered form (directly at the social insurance agency or through postal services, electronic transactions, or through the communal People’s Committee).

Funeral allowance: Directly at the social insurance agency or through postal services or through the individual’s bank account.
