I have been participating in compulsory social insurance for 7 years. Currently I am not working anymore and I want to participate in voluntary social insurance. So if I later go to work again, can I participate in compulsory social insurance one more time? And will it affect the participation process and the later pension enjoyment?

In accordance with the current law on social insurance, persons covered by voluntary social insurance are Vietnamese citizens aged full 15 years or older and not subject to compulsory social insurance. Employees who pay both compulsory and voluntary social insurance premiums are entitled to retirement and survivorship allowance over the total time of paying compulsory and voluntary social insurance premiums.

According to the above provisions, in case you have paid compulsory social insurance premiums for 7 years, quit your job and now want to participate in voluntary social insurance, you do have the right to.

Later, when you go to work and are subject to compulsory social insurance, the total time you have contributed to compulsory and voluntary social insurance will be added up as a basis to calculate the pension. Therefore, it will not affect your participation process and later pension.
