General Director of Vietnam Social Security accompanied the Prime Minister to the ASEAN – South Korea Summit and paid an official visit to Korea

At the invitation of South Korean President Moon Jae-in, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his wife and the high level delegation of the Vietnamese Government will attend the ASEAN - Korea and Mekong - Korea Commemorative Summits and paid an official visit to Korea from 24th to 28th November 2019. General Director of Vietnam Social Security Nguyen Thi Minh will accompany the Prime Minister on this trip.

The ASEAN-Korea Commemorative Summit is a Korean proposal at the 29th ASEAN-Korea Summit held in Singapore in November 2018 to mark 30 years of establishing partnership between the two sides. This is an opportunity for leaders of ASEAN countries and South Korea to review the cooperation in the past 30 years, promoting the orientation of the ASEAN-Korea strategic partnership in the next 30 years in the context of well developing and comprehensive relationship platform as it is today.

Through this Conference, South Korea also affirmed its commitment to promoting cooperation with ASEAN through the implementation of the New Southern Policy and the 3P Initiative (initiative on people, peace and prosperity).

The first Mekong-Korea Summit, entitled "Mekong-Korea Future Cooperation for the Commonwealth", was the first high-level conference held between Mekong countries and South Korea, which was upgraded from ministerial level to senior level after nearly 10 years of cooperation according to the Korean proposal. At the Conference, the leaders of the countries will review the situation of cooperation over the past time and discuss the direction of cooperation in a new section, including the proposal of the President's Mekong-Korea Vision.

The Vietnam-Korea Strategic Partnership has made positive progress in many fields such as politics, investment, trade and tourism. The visit of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed the appreciation of Korean cooperation in the framework with ASEAN, Mekong cooperation and bilateral cooperation with Vietnam, is an opportunity for the two sides to deepen Vietnam-Korea strategic cooperation partnership also.

It is expected that during the time working in Korea, General Director of Vietnam Social Security Nguyen Thi Minh will have meetings and working sessions with senior leaders of Korean social security agencies to sign a suitable Cooperation Agreement between Vietnam Social Security and the Korean Workers' Welfare and Compensation Agency (COMWEL).

The Vietnam Social Security Portal will continue to report on the activities of the General Director during the time of accompanying the Prime Minister in Korea./.
