In order to proactively prevent, detect and promptly handle cybersecurity risks and incidents, and ensure the stable and continuous operation of information systems serving citizens and businesses during the 2026 National Day holiday, Viet Nam Social Security (VSS) requires its units to strengthen the implementation of information security measures from August 29, 2026 through September 2, 2026.

Government reviews on multiple draft laws related to the Ministry of Finance and Vietnam Social Security
On the afternoon of August 18, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung chaired the August 2026 Government thematic session on lawmaking, giving opinions on 11 draft laws and one draft resolution expected to be submitted to the National Assembly for consideration and approval at the second session of the 16th National Assembly. These draft laws have broad scopes of regulation and directly affect state management activities, the investment and business environment, as well as the rights and interests of people and businesses.

How to Determine the Salary Used as the Basis for Social Insurance Contributions for Foreign Workers
The 2024 Law on Social Insurance (SI) and Decree No. 158/2025/ND-CP, which took effect on July 1, 2025, provide more specific provisions on persons subject to compulsory SI and the salary used as the basis for compulsory SI contributions for employees who are foreign citizens working in Vietnam. Proper determination of the salary used as the basis for SI contributions enables enterprises to fully fulfill their obligations while ensuring employees’ social security entitlements.

Government to consider draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Social Insurance
On August 12, the Government Office announced that, in preparation for the second session of the 16th National Assembly, the Prime Minister has requested ministries and ministerial-level agencies to urgently finalize the dossiers and documents for 17 draft laws and resolutions, to ensure quality and complete them on schedule by August 20, 2026, for submission to the National Assembly Standing Committee. Among them is the draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Social Insurance (SI), prepared by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

VSS issues new Working Regulations: Enhancing accountability and effectiveness in task implementation
On August 6, 2026, Director General of Vietnam Social Security (VSS) Le Hung Son signed Decision No. 666/QD-VSS promulgating the Working Regulations of VSS. The new Regulations aim to strengthen administrative discipline and order, uphold the accountability of heads of units, ensure that work is handled consistently, with clear accountability and in a timely manner, and improve the operational efficiency of the entire system.
