The province has conducted different measures to encourage more of the remaining 3,800 students to sign up for insurance.
During the school year 2019-20, the Bình Thuận Province’s Social Security will improve education to raise students’ and their parents’ awareness on health insurance policy, as well as the benefits and responsibilities when signing up for health insurance.
The provincial Social Security will cooperate with schools to list students and schools who have signed up for health insurance in time to ensure their rights.
The agency will also work with schools to give more training for medical workers and upgrade medical facilities at schools.
If a school does not have any medical workers, it can sign a contract with communal health stations, local clinics or individuals with proper qualifications to ensure initial healthcare for students.
Every school should ensure they use expenses from the health insurance fund for school healthcare based on the Government’s Decree 146/2018/NĐ-CP.
The provincial Social Security will coordinate with the provincial Department of Finance and the Department of Education and Training to act as consultants for people’s committees at different levels about health insurance for students. Support for students’ health insurance should be sourced from the local budget in addition to support from the State budget following the Prime Minister’s instructions in Decision 1167/QĐ-TTg. The support will help ease the burden for families and create good conditions for every student to sign up for health insurance, and encourage enterprises and sponsors to support expenses for health insurance cards for poor students./.
