Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Vu Duc Giang - Chairman of the Board of Directors, May 10 Corporation said that  they are the oldest traditional unit in Vietnam with over 70 years of construction and development. Every year, May 10 produces about 30 million standard products such as shirts, suits, casual pants, jackets, etc., which are very popular on domestic and foreign markets; creating jobs and stable incomes for over 12,000 employees. The average income of employees is 8 million per month.

After giving opinions on the draft of the Labor Code (amended) and reporting to the Minister and the mission, Mr. Than Duc Viet - General Director of May 10 Corporation said that if there is adjustment of increasing the retirement age, there should be a timeline. At the same time, specific regulations must be applied to each group, including the group which retires 5 years sooner than the general retirement age - because garment workers often suffer from working capacity loss due to extremely heavy and toxic work harm. Despite retiring 5 years earlier than standard, employees acquire social insurance benefits at the highest level. In addition, retirement age needs to be extended for high-skilled workers.

Regarding overtime, May 10 proposes to increase the ceiling price for maximum overtime agreements in the year from 300 hours per year to 100 hours to 400 hours per year; Increase the maximum ceiling of overtime agreements in the month from 30 hours per month to 40 hours per month or abolish the regulation on overtime ceiling in the month and specify the cases agreed upon overtime to 400 hours per year.

At the meeting, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung suggested that the Corporation continue to summarize the practices and maintain its characteristics to create a sustainable development corporation in the textile industry. Striving to be a strong enterprise, high labor productivity, and innovative technology becomes a target, but attention should simultaneously be paid to life, culture, training and retraining for employees.

Minister Dao Ngoc Dung informed that the practical comments on the Labor Code (amended) of May 10 will be absorbed, recorded and selected by the Drafting Committee to synthesize and complete the draft law, which will be submitted to the Standing Committee of the National Assembly at the meeting on 20 September.
