Reissuing VssID’s password via message service 8079

To support individuals registering electronic transaction with VSS agency to actively reset password for logging in “VssID-Digital Social Security” (VssID app) or VSS’ public service portal, VSS recently deployed the form of reissuing password of logging in VssID app via sending message to the prefix 8079.

Specifically, from Oct 22nd 2021, to reset password for logging in VssID app or VSS’ Public Service Portal, users could send message by the syntax “BH MK {Mã số BHXH}” to 8079.

Ex. Social security code 1234567xxx needs reissuing, users send message to 8079 with the syntax BH MK 123456xxx

In case the registered mobile number matches with social security code in message content and electronic transaction is registered with VSS agency, the system shall reply “Reissue password successfully. Account: 1234567xxx/Password: 22xx99”.

In case the mobilephone number doesn’t match with registered social security code, or social security code is in the wrong syntax (not 10 characters)…the system shall reply to the mobile number.

Attention for VssID users: With the prefix 8097,’ service fee VND 1,000/ message is paid to mobile network.

The practice of using VssID shows that a lot of users forget password for logging in app registration and using “Forget password” function to get new password with the content Brandname “Reissue password successfully. New password: 279419”. Because this convenience is supplied free by VSS agency, many app users have no habit to remember their own passwords, users reset password instead of rememebering password for each time they log in.

According to VSS’ statistics up to 14h00’ of Oct 18th: the amount of approved VssID account is 21,635,070; the number of messages on forgetting password (1 OTP for confirming mobile number + 1 message on new password notification) is 11,366,788. So, about 5.7 million turns (equal to 26% people having personal electronic transaction account with VSS agency) use “forget password” function.

Notably, from Sept 29th 2021 to Oct 15th 2021, the number of people forgeting password is 1,791,924 which increases 200% compared to the average of last months. Especially, users forget password 40 times/month. It is cited that in Aug 2021, the number 0327xxx686 user forgot password for 43 times; in Sept 2021, the number 037xxx835 user forgot for 47 times; in Oct 2021 the number 036xxx286 forgot for 45 times.

Therefore, to reduce messages sent to the system and enhance VssID users’ responsibility, it is effective for VSS to deploy the form of reissuingVssID app’s password via message with the prefix 8079. In the coming time, VSS shall adjust VssID app, software for users to reset password free via email, VssID or VSS’ public service portal.

Since The system has been operated from Nov 2020 till now, VssID app has brought a lot of conveniences to social, health and unemployment insurance participants such as managing, controlling information on the process of participating and enjoying social, health and unemployment regimes, policies; deploying public service on social, health insurance conveniently, easily, quickly; using health insurance card photo on the app for medical examination and treatment health insurance.

Attention: Only if forgetting password (resetting password by sending message to 8079), the user must pay SMS fee, in case of actively changing password, it is free. For the first time of reissuing password, VSS sends message to registration mobile (the accounts are approved before Oct 22nd 2021), send via registration email (the accounts are approved from Oct 22nd 2021). In order to save expense, individual should find issued password (through message or email) and actively change to password that is easy to remember. People could log in by fingerprint, face ID or finding on email registered with VSS.
