The 2024 Law on Health Insurance includes important new points with positive effect on the HI policy implementation in the coming time. The Law expands HI participant’s right, especially those suffering from serious or critical illnesses. Many high-tech services and intensive inpatient treatment will be fully covered by the health insurance fund, helping reduce the financial burden on patients. Beside, HI covers medical examination and treatment at patient’s home, remote consultations, and rehabilitation, etc.., representing a progressive and humane step forward in line with modern healthcare trends. Besides, household HI participation regulation is suitably amended to encourage voluntary participation, especially informal groups.

The law thoroughly regulates solutions on safe, stable HI fund management in connection with renewing payment methods and improving the efficiency of HI medical examination and treatment expense management. The promotion on IT appliance, digital transformation on HI management,  data connection synchronization between VSS and MOH and healthcare facilities transparently and effectively manages HI medical examination and treatment expense.

The Law’s new provisions continue to strengthen legal foundations to improve HI policy implementation, better ensure participants’ right toward universal HI coverage with the stable and modern social security system.
