1. Step 1: The  employee submits a dossier which is specified in the box “Dossier components” to his/her employer.

2. Step 2: Within 10 days after receiving a complete dossier from the employee, the employer makes a list of persons requesting payment of sickness, maternity, convalescence and health rehabilitation allowances (Form No. C70a-HD) and submits it to the social insurance agency where the employer pays social insurance premiums, enclosed with the employee’s dossier.

3. Step 3: The social insurance agency that receives the dossier shall receive the employer’s dossier for approval of the allowances and payment of the allowances to the employee.

The employer shall submit the dossier and receive the administrative procedure settlement results by post.

1. A list of persons requesting payment of sickness, maternity, convalescence and health rehabilitation allowances (Form No. C70a-HD, the original);

2. The following papers on a case-by-case basis:

a/ A hospital discharge paper, for an employee or his/her child who takes impatient treatment; a copy of the hospital transfer paper (appended with the seal of the medical care establishment that recommends the transfer) in case of transfer to a higher-level medical care establishment. In case the employee or his/her child takes outpatient treatment, a written certification of social insurance-covered leave (the original) is required. In case both the father and the mother take a leave for looking after their child, a copy of the written certification of social insurance-covered leave of either of them is required.

b/ A certified Vietnamese translation of the medical care paper granted by a foreign medical care establishment, in case the employee or his/her child takes medical care abroad.

Note: If the originals of the above dossier components are not required, the applicant may submit their originals, copies enclosed with the originals for comparison, certified copies or duplicates.

The social insurance agency shall approve the allowance and make payment to the employee within 10 days after receiving a complete dossier under regulations;

• An employee covered by compulsory social insurance gets sickness or accident other than an occupational accident and has to cease working and such is certified by a competent medical care establishment.
• An employee covered by compulsory social insurance has to cease working to look after his/her under-7 sick child and such is certified by a competent medical care establishment.
• Allowance shall not be provided for an employee covered by compulsory social insurance who gets sickness or accident and has to cease working due to self-destruction of his/her own health, getting drunk or use of narcotics or narcotic pre-substances on the Government-issued list.
