Currently, I am a Sophomore who is an intern and stuck in Taiwan since the beginning of September until now. I have participated in health insurance in Vietnam for full 5 consecutive years and did not own an insurance in Taiwan due to the scholarship. May I ask how my case would be solved if: 1. I will be examined, tested and hospitalized in Taiwan. (Costs and ways to solve the negative and positive case) 2. I will be examined, tested and hospitalized in Vietnam. (Costs and ways to solve the negative and positive case) 3. Costs of the RT-PCR test in Taiwan and Vietnam. Thank you.

Dear Ms., here is the response to your question:

Regarding the payment of medical care costs under the health insurance regime, if you have to receive medical care in Taiwan: according to the current regulations of Vietnam, the overseas medical expenses are not covered by the health insurance fund.

In the case of you returning home for medical care in Vietnam.

Examination and treatment of COVID 19: Because you are a subject of compulsory medical isolation, the cost of testing and diagnosis for SAR-CoV2, as well as the cost of treatment for COVID 19 (if diagnosed) falls within the scope of payment from the State Budget.

In case you suffer from other diseases during isolation and treatment of COVID19, the medical cost for other diseases will be covered by the health insurance fund, if your health insurance card is still valid.

The costs of the RT-PCR test performed in Taiwan will comply with Taiwanese regulations and not be covered by the health insurance fund. The cost of an RT-PCR test in Vietnam has been answered above.
