Prime Minister orders competent sectors and ministries should continue coordination to improve health care at grassroots level, and mobilise citizens, especially the elderly, to join health insurance, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said while meeting with representatives from the Vietnam Association for Community Health Education (VACHE) in early January in Hanoi.

Stressing the importance of the VACHE to the community health, PM Phuc spoke highly of the association’s activities, including early education for children aged 0-6, establishment of its branches in cities and provinces and communication to raise public awareness of health care.

Notably, the association had raised several proposals to complete mechanisms and policies to develop the education and health care sectors, he underlined.

He hoped that based on its considerable experience in the past 10 years, the association will make further contributions to realising the Party and State’s policies on education development and health care.

It should work with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education and Training as well as relevant agencies to recommend policies and mechanisms on improving public health, and increasing the number of elderly with insurance cards.

In addition, the association was advised to promote its strengths in public health and traditional medicine for better the people’s healths and wellness.

PM Phuc asked relevant ministries to help the association to carry out its activities in 2019./.
