A dialogue seeking ways to address shortcomings in medical check-ups and treatment for health insurance card holders at private health clinics was held on April 12 between the Ministry of Health, the Vietnam Social Security (VSS) and the Vietnam Private Hospital Association, under the chair of Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.

According to statistics published by the Vietnam Social Security, as of the end of 2017, the country had over 227,000 people participating in voluntary social insurance. Over the years, persuading labourers, particularly freelancers and those work in informal sectors, to join voluntary social insurance remains a difficult issue for policy implementation agencies. A solution to solve the issue is in urgent need.

The Vietnam Social Security teamed up with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the National University Hanoi to hold a scientific seminar on media and communications on social insurance and health insurance, the first of its kind, in Hanoi on April 17. It brought together policy makers, media and press researchers and lecturers, leaders of news agencies and journalists.
