On December 9, 2020, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly issued Resolution 1111/NQ-UBTVQH14 on arranging administrative units at district and commune levels and establishing Thu Duc City under Ho Chi Minh City. In the spirit of Resolution 1111/NQ-UBTVQH14, dated January 22, 2021, the General Director of Vietnam Social Security signed the Decision No. 128/QD-BHXH on the establishment of the social security office of Thu Duc City and sent the staff for management to continue activities of the industry, while ensuring social security activities in the newly established area.

As of December 31, 2020, Ha Tinh province had 84,617 participants in compulsory social insurance, 28,197 participants in voluntary social insurance (an increase of 16,057 compared to 2019); the number of participants in health insurance is over 1.1 million, reaching 90% of the population. The collection of social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance premiums reached 2,684 billion dong, equaling 101% of the assigned plan.
