Continuing to strengthen management and improve the quality of medical examination and treatment covered by health insurance

On December 21, 2020, the Ministry of Health issued Directive 25/CT-BYT on further strengthening management and improving the quality of medical examination and treatment covered by health insurance.

Accordingly, the Minister of Health requires Directors of the Health Services of provinces and centrally-run cities and Heads of Health units of ministries and branches to:

- Direct provincial medical facilities to strengthen quality management of medical services in accordance with guidance in Circular 19/2013/TT-BYT; develop diagnostic and treatment guidelines, including standards for inpatient hospital admissions in accordance with the hospital's professional requirements, equipment conditions and human resources at at least 80% of common disease codes that the hospital is treating, not to indicate inpatient treatment in cases that are not really necessary;

Strengthen management and improve the quality of medical examination and treatment with health insurance (Illustrative image)

- To direct the arrangement of the number of hospital beds suitable to the existing scale, equipment and human resources of the medical examination and treatment establishment;

- The medical examination and treatment facilities to organize appointments for patients via: phone, the hospital website or software connected with the hospital to ensure quality, efficiency, reduce waiting hours, avoid overloading;

- Direct provincial general and specialized hospitals to support the transfer of technical expertise to lower levels, and transfer a number of moderate and mild chronic diseases to district and commune levels, etc.
