Introducing a guiding document to instruct units of Viet Nam Social Security in all provinces and cities nation-wide on how to use the new application VssID – digital social insurance on mobile devices is very necessary.

Deputy General Director of the Viet Nam Social Security Pham Luong Son made the statement at a meeting, held on November 20 in Ha Noi to collect comments on the draft document.

Son said the operation of the application was an important step for the insurance sector to realise its goals of building electronic health-insurance cards and electronic social-insurance notebooks following the Law on Social Insurance and the Law on Health Insurance, contributing to the implementation of the assigned tasks in the Resolution No 28-NQ/TW.

According to the draft document, this is an application on the mobile device platform with the aim of establishing communication channels, accessing to information, performing online public services for individuals and organisations in a convenient, easy and fast way in order to replace printed social-insurance notebooks and health-insurance cards step by step.

Currently, the application is available on both the App Store and Google Play for iOS and Android operating systems.

The VssID mobile application provides essential utilities and information such as monitoring the participation process, policies of social and health insurance, looking up information of social insurance code, social insurance agents, hospitals and health clinics to allow people to use health insurance cards for examination and treatment, household health insurance and 24-hour-daily supporting services.

The draft document requires units under the Viet Nam Social Security and its branches throughout the country to promote communication of the application.

It was believed to be imperative to develop a plan to carry out communication of the application, especially on the mass media with suitable forms for every group of participants in social and health insurance, the document said.

Previously, Viet Nam Social Security already launched the application at an online meeting with 20,000 participants in 63 provinces and cities on November 17.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had attended the meeting and expressed his warm congratulations on the launch of the application.

Phuc said the launch of the application was a strong step in administrative reform and information-technology application of the insurance sector, contributing to the building of the e-Government in the country.

The PM also recognised the sector’s efforts in researching and applying modern technologies to bring more benefits to participants of health and social insurance.

By providing the application, the insurance sector had demonstrated its pioneering spirit in its efforts to facilitate the people, he said.

Phuc said he believed that the positive results, achieved by Viet Nam Social Security over the past time, especially the launch of the application, had created a driving force for its officials and staff to continue promoting a good tradition, solidarity, creativity, striving to complete the assigned tasks, worthy of the faith of the Party, State, Government and People./
