Warning: "Social Insurance Information Update" Scam
18/07/2025 02:09 PM
Recently, Vietnam Social Security (VSS) has received reports from the public about phone calls and text messages from scammers impersonating VSS staff to steal personal information and assets.
VSS has consistently received complaints about these scammers, who pretend to be VSS staff. They make phone calls, send messages, or send unverified links, asking people and employers to update their information, with claims such as "From July 1st, 2025, VSS will change its electronic transaction system. Failure to update will result in service interruptions, and people will not receive their pensions or health insurance (HI) cards". This is a tactic aimed at defrauding participants and beneficiaries of social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance policies.
VSS affirms that this is an organized scam, exploiting public anxiety about policy changes. VSS has not had any phone calls, links or QR codes to request people's citizen IDs, personal information, or to perform electronic transaction system changes, VssID application updates, or HI card integration.
To safeguard personal information and assets, VSS strongly recommends that people remain extremely vigilant:
If you need to update or adjust your information related to SI, HI and UI, you must contact your local social security offices directly or use official and secure channels such as the National Public Service Portal, the VssID application, or the VSS hotline at 19009068.
Raising awareness and taking recommended measures will be the strongest shield to protect people from these sophisticated scams.
