Presenting the project at the event, Dao Duy Hien, deputy head of the Department of Social Insurance Implementation and project manager, said that unemployment insurance policy has really become the fulcrum of employees and employers, especially, during the COVID-19 pandemic when there was a sudden increase in the number of unemployed workers.
However, shortcomings are still found during the implementation of the policy, he said.
Therefore, to fix the shortcomings, the project has focused on analysing and clarifying the theoretical and scientific basis of the unemployment insurance policy; building a system of criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of the unemployment insurance policy as well as the implementation of the unemployment insurance policy; thereby, making recommendations to further improve and effectively implement the unemployment policy in the country in the future, he said.
The unemployment insurance policy came into force on January 1, 2009. The policy is stipulated under the Law on Social Insurance, adopted by the National Assembly on June 29, 2006 and Decree No 127/2008/ND-CP, dated December 12, 2008 by the Government, providing guidance for the enforcement of relevant stipulations of unemployment insurance under the law on social insurance.
