VSS and Waikato University of New Zealand establishes bilateral cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation during the 2016-2021 period in July, 2016 in Ha Noi, including long-term cooperation goals in scientific research, organisation and participation at international conferences and workshops, post-graduate training, information exchange, and building and implementing training programmes related to social security.

The MoU also set a short-term target of improving capacity for public cadres and officers of VSS via short-term English language training programmes relating to their professional skills and providing updates about information relating to the field of social security.

Fields of cooperation within the framework of the plan to implement the MoU include English language training (following the scaffolding teaching method); professional skills relating to social security; financial management; operation management and information technology; administration; and other sectors that are extended in line with the capacity and demand of the VSS and the university.

VSS and Waikato University signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) in Hamilton on March 14, 2018 in order to concretise their commitments and improve cooperation efficiency between the two sides.

During the 2016-2021 period, VSS sent nearly 200 public cadres and officers to attend training courses on social security and English language skills at Waikato University. Apart from experiencing the language and culture of New Zealand, participants also had opportunities to access a professional education environment and an advanced social security system.

Together with outstanding cooperation activities between the two sides within the framework of the MoU, Waikato University continues to be a trustworthy and close partner of VSS by supporting VSS in the field of human resources development training and policy consultancy.

In order to continue enhancing the cooperation between the VSS and Waikato University and promoting achieved results during the 2016-2021 period, the two sides plan to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation for the 2022-2025 period on July 25./.
