The event brought together LSSO leaders and officials, ILO representatives, international experts, and delegates from social security institutions of several countries. Discussions focused on orientations, plans, and solutions for advancing digital transformation in the field of social security, particularly the development of a mobile application enabling citizens to conveniently access social protection services in Laos.

At the workshop, the representative of Vietnam Social Security (VSS) delivered a presentation highlighting Vietnam’s practical experience in building and implementing the VssID – Digital Social Security application. VssID application has become an essential communication tool, enabling citizens to easily access information on contributions and entitlements to social, health, and unemployment insurance in Vietnam. The VSS representative also engaged in in-depth exchanges, providing clarifications and technical support to LSSO in its study and planning process for the development of a social security application in Laos. Vietnam’s experience is expected to make a significant contribution in helping LSSO shape an appropriate model, select suitable technologies, and design an effective implementation roadmap.

The workshop also featured insightful discussions among LSSO, ILO, and international experts on strategies to expand social security coverage, and to advance digital government, digital economy, and digital society in Laos. Among these, the development of a digital social security application was identified as a top priority to enhance management efficiency, ensure transparency, and deliver greater convenience to citizens.

The participation and experience-sharing of VSS at the workshop underscored Vietnam’s spirit of cooperation and support for Laos in the field of social security. It also reaffirmed VSS’s pioneering role in digital transformation, building a modern, people-centered digital social security system that better serves citizens and businesses./.
