Deputy Director of VSS Dao Viet Anh welcomed the Delegation that visited VSS and delivered the opening speech for the Workshop.

The workshop aimed to facilitate the exchange of valuable experiences in expanding social insurance (SI) coverage across labor in the formal and informal sectors. It also sought to share practical lessons on applying information technology and digital transformation in implementing social security policies in Vietnam and Laos, contributing to the successful implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation and the Action Program signed for the 2022-2025 period.

In his opening speech, VSS Deputy Director Dao Viet Anh emphasized that, the close cooperative relationship between VSS and the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare of Laos, specifically LSSO has been established since 1998 and regarded particularly important in VSS’s international cooperation network from 1998 to the present. Strengthening ties between VSS and LSSO is aimed at ensuring social security for the people of Laos and Vietnam, and the migrant labor force of both countries.

Mr. Chomyeang Phengthongsawath, General Director of the LSSO, emphasized that the workshop was an opportunity for LSSO to share experiences, exchange technical knowledge, and discuss expanding coverage, developing participants in the informal sector, and applying information technology in the social security field.

At the workshop, VSS representatives  introduced the achievements in information technology application and digital transformation; and also shared experiences in expanding coverage and developing participants in the informal sector. Meanwhile, LSSO representatives shared their experiences in managing their social security system and applying information technology in SI management in Laos.
