Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan hosted a reception in Hanoi on September 28 for a delegation of energetic young people with disabilities who will attend the ‘Shining Vietnamese Spirit’ programme.
The ‘Shining Vietnamese Spirit’ programme is taking place in Hanoi on September 28 and 29, honouring 50 outstanding young people with disabilities who have made positive contributions to society and the community.
Since its launch in 2013 by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, the programme has extolled 140 energetic young Vietnamese people with disabilities from different living areas and social backgrounds across the country.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice President Xuan reaffirmed the Party and State's consistent policy to pay special attention to disadvantaged people and those living in remote and ethnic minority-inhabited areas.

She hailed the strong will and determination of the delegates and the community of Vietnamese people with disabilities in general to rise above difficulties, saying that they are shining example for others to follow.
She encouraged the delegates to continue following their dreams and helping others, especially those living in the same situation to rise together and build an energetic, humane, civilised society.
She asked functional agencies to work out specific policies and plans to support for people with disabilities on the basis of research and careful review of current laws and regulations on the handicapped as well as Vietnam's commitments in implementing the international convention on disabled people.
