Vietnam’s per capita income estimated at 4.2 million VND a month

The per capita income in 2021 was estimated at 4.2 million VND (180 USD) a month, down 1.1% from the previous year due to the impacts of COVID-19, a survey by the General Statistics Office shows.

According to the survey results, the per capita income in urban areas averaged at 5.388 million VND (231 USD) per month, which was 1.5 times higher than that in rural areas.
The southeastern region recorded the highest monthly income at 5.794 million VND (248 USD) per capita, while the lowest income was seen in the northern mountainous and midland region at 2.837 million VND (121.5 USD).
The average number of people in a household in 2021 was 3.6, down from 3.9 in 2020.
The northern mountainous and midland regions had the largest number of people per household at 4, while households in the southeastern region had the smallest number at an average of 3.3.
The survey was conducted on 47,000 households in 63 provinces and centrally governed cities.
