On 29 June 2016, Vietnam Social Security (VSS) and Ministry of Health (MOH) jointly held a Conference on health insurance implementation period of 2016-2020, to launch health care data portal and health insurance assessment information system. H.E Vu Duc Dam, Deputy Prime Minister; H.E Dinh Tien Dung, Minister of Finance and concurrently Chairman of VSS Governing Body attended the conference.

Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, & Social Welfare is currently drafting a Decree detailing and guiding the implementation of the Law on Social Insurance on compulsory social insurance for employees who are foreign citizens working in Vietnam and collecting feedbacks. According to the plan, this Decree will take effect from 1st January 2018
