Vietnam Social Security and AmCham: Actively cooperate in the field of pharmacy and medical supplies

On the morning of December 2, at the headquarters of Vietnam Social Security (VSS), Deputy General Director of Vietnam Social Security Pham Luong Son had a meeting with the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (AmCham) - Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang City, The US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC), led by Mrs. Mary Tarnowka - Executive Director of Amcham.
At the meeting, VSS Deputy General Director Pham Luong Son emphasized, over the past years, Vietnam has achieved important successes in implementing policies on health insurance and health care for the people. It would not have been a success without the active and effective support from many countries and international organizations, especially AmCham.
Son hopes that AmCham will continue to join the VSS in creating breakthroughs, thereby opening up more opportunities for cooperation for both sides.
Appreciating the achievements in social security policy, Mrs. Mary Tarnowka said, with the today’s foundations of VSS, the United States (US) is committed and eager to cooperate in the delivery of high quality health care services to the Vietnamese people. "The health sector will continue to be in the development plan of cooperation between the two governments of the US and Vietnam in the coming years." – said Mrs. Mary Tarnowka.

At the meeting, the representative of AmCham introduced the first AmCham Vietnam’s Healthcare White Book. In addition, the two sides had numerous topics discussed, in which VSS also gave several specific proposals, including: Cooperation to promote the building of facilities for people to access drugs with high safety and efficiency; support and jointly build an information database for searching drugs, medical supplies and medical equipment; medical technology assessment in the field of pharmaceutical and medical supplies; Create solutions to online prescribe drugs in Vietnam.

Along with that, to raise awareness to get consensus between health facilities, doctors, people and social insurance agencies in terms of safe, effective and sustainable use of drugs; to develop the report on evaluation of the drug coverage list; to share documentary information as well as experiences of other countries in the field of pharmaceutical and medical supplies in general; to train and share with VSS’s staff on financial management skills for the increasingly sustainable and effective management of the Health Insurance Fund./.
