According to the MoH, from January to June 2019, the EHR software will be implemented and reviewed in eight key provinces and cities. Starting in July, the software will be launched nationwide. By the end of 2019, the EHR system will be set up for each Vietnamese citizen, making medical medical diagnosis and treatment easier.

The MoH will step up the building of a shared database to serve as a basis for information exchange and integration between systems in health establishments,so hospitals canupdate their own information systems.

The ministry will also work to devise criteria in information technology as well as professional proficiency, while applying national and international IT standards to improve connection and database sharing between the systems.

Hospitals are required to implement electronic medical record linking with the EHR software, and launch software monitoring activities of medical clinics at the commune level linking with the EHR system, gradually reducing the amount of physical documents and records in clinics’ archives./.
