The meeting took place as part of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the VSS and the Lao Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare.

Representatives from the VSS Legal Department, VSS Administration Office, IT Centre, Department of International Cooperation, social security offices of Thua Thien-Hue and Ha Tinh provinces were among the Vietnamese delegates present at the session.

LSSO General Director Keo Chanthavixay said the VSS delegation’s visit marks an important milestone in concretising the Memorandum of Understanding between the two agencies. This is also the first delegation to visit and work in Laos to carry out the signed Action Plan for the 2022-2025 period.

With the achievement of this first milestone, LSSO hopes that the cooperation and experience sharing between the two agencies will continue to be maintained and further developed in the coming time, she said.

VSS Deputy General Director Chu Manh Sinh said since its establishment, the VSS has always valued friendly cooperation with Lao partners in social security.

The purpose of the VSS's important business trip is to facilitate the exchange of experiences between the two social security agencies regarding the reform of administrative procedures, communication, IT application, and digital transformation in the implementation of social security policy, he said.

The VSS administers social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance policies for around 650,000 organisations and businesses. It also serves over 17 million social insurance participants and over 90 million health insurance participants, he said.

He said the VSS database is currently one of six national database systems in Vietnam. The VSS has been recognised as one of the organisations that effectively and consistently manage data, providing assistance to ministries and other sectors in managing and exchanging shared data.
