On the afternoon of January 15, 2024, in Lai Chau Province, the Working Delegation of the Vietnam Social Security (VSS) led by Deputy Director Dao Viet Anh presented social insurance books and health insurance cards to disadvantaged individuals in the province.

Ten social insurance books and twenty health insurance cards were handed over to the needy in the city of Lai Chau

At the provincial headquarters of the social security office in Lai Chau, Deputy Director Dao Viet Anh, Party Committee member and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Lai Chau Province Sung A Ho, Deputy Chairman of the People's Committee of Lai Chau City Bui Huu Cam, and representatives of sponsors handed over 10 social insurance books and 20 health insurance cards to those in need in Lai Chau City. These are cases that have been reviewed and listed by local authorities and governments, and the contributions from officials, workers, and funds from local businesses have reached a total of 45 social insurance books and 598 health insurance cards distributed to those in need across the entire province of Lai Chau.

On behalf of the leadership of the VSS, Deputy Director Dao Viet Anh expressed profound gratitude and appreciation to the generous sponsors, as well as the local Party Committee and government at all levels in Lai Chau for their companionship in the social security activities and the program of presenting social insurance books and health insurance cards to those in need. Touched by the noble gesture of the VSS and sponsors, Mrs. Mai Thi Thuy from Ward 3, Quyet Tien Commune, expressed joy and excitement at being cared for and given the opportunity to participate in and enjoy the social security policies of the Party and the State. Mrs. Thuy hopes that the VSS will continue to expand this practical program, providing opportunities for people in difficult circumstances, like herself, to participate in health insurance for self-care and voluntary social insurance for retirement without depending on descendants in old age.

***The program "Presenting Social Insurance Books and Health Insurance Cards to People in Difficult Circumstances" is an annual activity of the VSS, aiming to spread the social security policies of the State, mobilize the broad participation of officials, employees, and workers across the entire VSS system, as well as the broader community, in presenting social insurance books and health insurance cards to those in need. This includes people with disabilities who are not covered by the State budget, those requiring support for health insurance coverage, people without health insurance cards under the new poverty escape policy, people in near-poor households, those with average living standards not yet participating in social, health insurance, and other vulnerable individuals. The program aims to receive the collective support and contribution of the community, enabling more workers to join social insurance and more people to receive healthcare through health insurance.

As of now, the VSS has mobilized about 7,600 social insurance books and nearly 120,000 health insurance cards for distribution to individuals in difficult circumstances nationwide. The total number of social insurance books and health insurance cards mobilized will be allocated to localities based on the review of the number of people in difficult circumstances requiring assistance./.
