According to the report from the Contribution colection, SI book and HI card Division of Nam Định Social Security Office, 333,850 students participate in health insurance in the province in 2023, achieving a coverage rate of approximately 99% of the total number of students. Compared to 2022, the number of students participating health insurance has increased by approximately 5,850, with the most significant increase seen in Hải Hậu district (3,629 students), Ý Yên district (769 students), and Nghĩa Hưng district (558 students).

According to the analysis by Nam Định Social Security Office, the student group currently accounts for approximately 20% of the total health insurance participants in Nam Định. Therefore, for many years, the leadership of the Nam Định Social Security Office has focused on implementing solutions to ensure the highest possible results, thereby positively impacting the health insurance coverage rate in the province.

Trần Văn Dũng, the Director of the Nam Định Social Security Office shared that they always prioritize and make efforts to expand health insurance coverage for each target group in the area. The student group is a prime example, and for several years, the provincial Social Security Office has been striving to achieve the highest coverage rate for this group.

In 2022, the student health insurance coverage rate in Nam Định reached a relatively high level, with approximately 327,999 students participating, covering 98.35% of the total number of student in the area. Among them, many districts achieved very high coverage rates, and the disparity of different areas was not significant. Notable examples include Mỹ Lộc district with 100% coverage, Nam Trực district with 99.92%, Nghĩa Hưng district with 99.91%, and Trực Ninh district with 99.74%. In terms of school levels, the primary school student group has the highest participation rate, reaching 99.12%, followed by lower secondary school students at 98.98%, and upper secondary school students at 97.64%.

"The number of students always accounts for about 20% of the population of Nam Định province. Therefore, we always prioritize and make efforts to increase and achieve the highest health insurance coverage for this group. This is also a measure to positively impact and improve the overall health insurance coverage rate in the province," emphasized the Director of the Nam Định Social Security Agency.

As of May 2023, the number of people participating in health insurance in Nam Định reached 1.69 million, surpassing the plan set by the Vietnam Social Security Agency for 2023 (101.44%). However, if the collection of student health insurance fees is not well-implemented in the upcoming academic year, the overall health insurance coverage rate in Nam Định province may be significantly affected. Therefore, in the revenue development scenario, the Nam Định Social Security Agency has set requirements to focus on implementing the collection of student health insurance fees. In addition to maintaining the high participation rate in primary schools, lower secondary schools, and upper secondary schools, the Nam Định Social Security Agency is striving to increase the health insurance coverage rate for specialized schools and vocational training institutions (currently only reaching approximately 75.1% coverage).
