Find out your own health insurance benefits on the card

In Decision 1351 of the Vietnam Social Security (VSS) on the issuance of the code written on the HI card stipulating the structure of the card code. Accordingly, just by looking at the symbol written on the card, participants will be able to know their health insurance benefits. In the new form of health insurance card issued from April 1, 2021, the code is reduced to 10 characters, meaning there is no code for the participant's influence. Instead, health insurance benefits are recorded separately on the right corner of the card.
Specifically, the numbers from 1 to 5 on the health insurance card correspond to the level of health insurance benefits as follows:

In addition, Article 4, Decision No. 1351 stipulates that the code of the subject's place of living consists of two characters and symbols that are both in letters and numbers::
SIGNAL K1
is the code where ethnic minorities and people from poor households participate in health insurance and are living in areas with difficult socio-economic conditions as prescribed by law.
SIGNAL K2
is the code where ethnic minorities and people from poor households participate in health insurance, and are living in areas with extremely difficult socio-economic conditions as prescribed by law.
SIGNAL K3
is the code where the insured person is living in the island commune, island district as prescribed by law.
Health insurance cards with codes of the subjects' places of living (symbols: K1, K2, K3), when they go for improper-level medical care on their own, the health insurance fund will cover the medical expenses for the district-level hospital, inpatient treatment for provincial and central hospitals (no need for medical referrals). For persons belonging to many groups of subjects participating in health insurance, the level of health insurance benefit stated on the health insurance card is the benefit level of the subjects with the highest benefits.
