Social insurance agencies of localities actively improve social security

Social insurance agencies of localities are implementing many measures to effectively carry out social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance policies, particularly in increasing the collection of social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance contributions, reducing debts and developing the number of participants.

Ha Tinh: health insurance coverage among students reaches 99.2 per cent

During the 2021-2022 academic year, the provincial Department of Education and Training worked closely with localities and relevant agencies to effectively implement tasks relating to health insurance for students.

As of July 25, a total of 26,254 students in the province had health insurance cards granted by the State. The total number of students participating in health insurance at schools reached 227,489. The average health insurance coverage among students increased to 99.2 per cent.

From July 2021 to June, 2022, more than 164,800 students had medical check-ups and treatment with a total expense of VND85.3 billion (US$3.6 million) covered by the health insurance fund. The health insurance policy has helped households reduce medical expenses and helped many poor students get access to advanced medical services.

In the 2022-2023 academic year, the provincial Department of Education and Training set a target of having 100 per cent of students participate in health insurance following the Prime Minister’s Decision No 546/QĐ-TTg. In order to fulfil the target, relevant agencies will strengthen coordination and direct local schools to take appropriate measures as well as increase information dissemination to raise public awareness of the importance of health insurance for students.

Quang Ninh: VND2.9 trillion collected in the first six months

In the first six months of 2022, the province collected VND2,990 billion ($126 million) of social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance contributions, up VND53 billion in comparison with the same period last year.

During the period, information dissemination about regulations and policies regarding social insurance and health insurance was enhanced with diversified forms in line with the characteristics of different groups of people.

The Quang Ninh Social Security actively coordinated with relevant departments and agencies in disseminating information about the implementation of related policies and regulations.

It also worked with the provincial departments of tax and planning and investment to provide information and ask businesses and cooperatives to implement social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance policies for their employees.  

Quang Ninh Social Security also coordinated with relevant agencies and departments to increase inspection over the implementation of these policies for their employees and strictly punish violators in line with laws.

Thanks to these solutions, as of June 2022, the number of social insurance participants in the province increased to 268,835, a year-on-year rise of more than 10,400 people.

Bac Giang: voluntary social insurance participants developed

Since early in the year, the province has had more than 9,000 new voluntary social insurance participants, raising the total number of voluntary social insurance participants to nearly 34,800, equivalent to 86.7 per cent of the yearly target.

The province entrusts post offices to collect social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance contributions. There are 200 collection points across the province and each commune has at least one collection point.

Vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Mai Son asked relevant departments and agencies to speed up the implementation of Direction No 08 - CT/TU issued in July 2021, by the provincial authorities about developing the number of voluntary social insurance participants during the 2021-2025 period.    

People’s Committees of districts and communes were asked to coordinate with fatherland front committees and organisations to increase consultancy and information dissemination to raise public awareness of the social insurance policy.

He also ordered voluntary social insurance collecting agents to mobilise people to participate in voluntary social insurance and strengthen the application of information technology and simplify administrative procedures to create favourable conditions for participants./.
