HA NOI — Deputy General Director of Vietnam Social Security (VSS) Dao Viet Anh said that information and communication work has made positive contributions to the industry's performance, especially during the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking at a training course on information and communication that the VSS opened on April 19 for its staff, Anh said that over the years, thanks to the attention and drastic direction of industry leaders and the efforts, responsibility and creativity of the social insurance agencies of provinces, cities and affiliated units, communication work was constantly improved both in content, form, and methods.

“It has been flexibly adapting to the actual situation,” she said, adding that it helped create unity in the leadership and direction of the Party committees and authorities at all levels, and consensus in the implementation of policies on social insurance and health insurance.

“Effective communication helps improve people's awareness of the necessity, meaning, benefits, human values, and superiority of social insurance and health insurance policies. Their confidence in the policy has continued to be strengthened,” he said.

Anh said that this year, the industry's tasks were very difficult, including implementing the Resolutions of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, assignments by the Government and tasks set in Resolution No 28-NQ/TW of the Central Party Committee, in which social insurance agencies are asked to be more urgent, more responsible and take more drastic actions.

Anh asked VSS employees to strengthen communication, and develop detailed communication plans and scenarios for each group of insurance participants.

She said that communication must be associated with the motto which placed people, employees and employers at the centre of any insurance services.

The presenters at the workshop included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi, Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi lam bao (Journalists) magazine and Dr. Vu Hoai Phuong, Lecturer at the Academy of Journalism and Communication together with leaders of units under the VSS.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi emphasised that social networking was an inevitable trend, which required agencies and organisations to follow to reach potential clients.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, online communication has been very effective.

However, it was difficult to verify information in the social network environment, so to communicate social insurance and health insurance policies, agencies and individuals needed to pay special attention to the legitimacy and accuracy of the information as well as identify the right target groups and clear purposes.

Assoc.Prof.Dr.Nguyen Thanh Loi, Editor-in-Chief of the Nguoi lam bao (Journalists) magazine speaks at the training workshop.
