The National Committee for Tuberculosis (TB) Elimination established

The Prime Minister has approved the establishment of the National Committee for Tuberculosis Elimination (The National Committee) and appointed Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam to be the committee head.

Two deputy heads are deputy health minister Nguyen Truong Son and deputy head of the Central Committee the Vietnam Fatherland Front Truong Thi Ngoc Anh.

The 18 commissioners are leaders of related agencies.

The national committee assists the Prime Minister in commanding and coordinating agencies to control and prevent TB towards the disease’s elimination by 2030 and improve public health through the following activities;

  • Studying and proposing strategies, directions, solutions and action plans to control, prevent and put an end to TB by 2030 to the Prime Minister.
  • Assisting the Prime Minister in directing and coordinating ministries, agencies and localities in addressing issues related to TB prevention; urge ministries, agencies, and civil society to implement tasks, action programmes and activities to control, prevent and eliminate TB by 2030.

Commissioners work on a part-time basis. The national committee shares the administrative apparatus with the National Committee for AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Control.

The Ministry of Health is the standing body responsible for ensuring the operational conditions for the national committee. Minister of Health uses his/her apparatus to manage the implementation of the national committee./.
