NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan closed the eighth session of the 14th NA

Addressing the closing ceremony, NA Chairwoman Ngan said the eighth session of the 14th NA concluded after 28 days of democratic and effective work. After careful consideration and discussion, the NA passed 11 laws and codes, and 17 resolutions with high consensus, and scrutinised 10 draft laws.

The Chairwoman stressed that the laws and resolutions approved are important legal foundations in continuing to contribute to respecting, protecting and ensuring human rights, the rights and basic obligations of citizens, socio-economic development, national defence and security and international integration; building advanced, harmonious and stable labour relationships; speeding up the streamlining of the State apparatus to make it operate more effectively; reforming the public cadre and services system to raise their responsibilities, quality and efficiency in serving the people.

At the meeting, the NA for the first time issued a resolution on the overall scheme of socio-economic development and investment in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in 2021-2030.

The question-and-answer session continued to draw the attention of voters and people nationwide and received high appreciation for the quality of both questions and answers. The Prime Minister and Government members showed their serious attitudes, did not avoid any thorny issues, frankly admitting their responsibilities and making commitments to overcoming shortcomings in management work. The NA acknowledged and asked Government members, ministers and heads of agencies to soon have specific action plans to materialise their commitments effectively.

NA deputies also made decisions on judicial work and tax issues, as well as looked into the feasibility study report for the first phase of the Long Thanh International Airport project, and the project on piloting the urban administration model in Hanoi.

The NA implemented the personnel work at the request of the NA Standing Committee and the Government, which took place in line with legal regulations and with high consensus.

NA Chairwoman Ngan stressed that the number of laws and resolutions adopted, along with important issues debated at the session have demonstrated the efforts and responsibility of NA agencies, the Government and relevant organisations in the preparation work, as well as consensus of deputies.

The meeting’s results created trust, excitement and solidarity but also urged more efforts to fulfil tasks given by the NA.

Chairwoman Ngan urged the Government and agencies to promptly implement the approved laws and resolutions, with attention paid to the communication work to raise public awareness of the legal documents; seriously study opinions of NA deputies, voters and people to have more practical measures to create positive changes in management tasks and ensure progress and quality of contents to be submitted to the NA at its next session.

She also called for proactive coordination to fulfil set tasks, successfully organise key events of the Party and State and gain more achievements to celebrate important national events of the country./.
