VSS presents social insurance books, health insurance cards to the impoverished people in Nghe An, Hau Giang and Kon Tum provinces

On December 16 and 17, 2022, Vietnam Social Security (VSS) presented social insurance books and health insurance cards to the needy people in Nghe An, Hau Giang and Kon Tum provinces. It’s part of VSS’s programme to present social insurance books and health insurance cards to the impoverished people across the country.

In Nghe An:

On December 16, VSS presented 20 social insurance books and 15 health insurance cards to the needy people in Nghi Loc District, Nghe An Province under the attendance of representatives from Nghe An Social Security, Agribank, MB bank, Vietinbank, Vietcombank and BIDV bank’s Nghe An Province branch.

Addressing the event, VSS deputy director general Nguyen Duc Hoa said “This is not only a material contribution but a spiritual encouragement, sharing with the needy people the financial burden for medical check-ups and treatment when they fall sick, and facilitating the needy people to join the voluntary social insurance scheme to enjoy retirement pension and healthcare when they get old.”

On behalf of the VSS leadership, VSS deputy general director Nguyen Duc Hoa expressed thanks and gratitude to donors for their meaningful actions and having accompanied Vietnam’s social insurance sector in social security activities and in the “Giving needy people with social insurance books and health insurance cards” programme.

Vice Chairman of Nghi Loc District’s People’s Committee Tran Thi Anh Tuyet also thanked VSS and Nghe An Province’s Social Security and donors for having supported the district in implementing social welfare policies, ensuring interests and benefits of the local people, especially those facing disadvantaged circumstances, contributing to the efforts to “leave no one behind”.

Aiming to mobilise the assistance of the society to enable many more labourers to join the social insurance system, and to help people get access to insurance-based healthcare services, on November 23, VSS organised a ceremony to launch “Giving needy people with social insurance books and health insurance cards” programme. As a result, between November 23, 2022 and December 10, 2022, the programme successfully mobilised about 10,000 social insurance books and nearly 120,000 health insurance cards for needy people nationwide.

In Hau Giang:

On December 17, VSS deputy director general Dao Viet Anh and Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Ho Thu Anh presented social insurance books and health insurance cards to the impoverished people in Phung Hiep District.

VSS deputy director general Dao Viet Anh said the practice is to spread the State’s social welfare policies through mobilising the contributions of the whole staff in the social insurance sector as well as the society to gift social insurance books and health insurance cards to those in need.

"On behalf of the Vietnam social insurance sector, I would like to express since thanks and gratitude to donors for their nice behaviours,” he said.

Holding an insurance book on hand, Dang Van Dau, a resident in Cay Duong Township, said “His three-people family earns just VND10 million annually from farming on a 5,000sq.m land lot they rented to grow rice. He used to work extra jobs, but due to the COVID-19, no one hires him now.”

Though financially difficult, Dau said, he would join the voluntary social insurance scheme regularly to have kind of ‘pension’ when he gets old.

Dau is one of 30 people granted with social insurance books and health insurance cards on December 17. Totally, 50 social insurance books and 4,497 health insurance cards will be given to needy people in the province.

Addressing the event, VSS deputy director general Dao Viet Anh highlighted the significance of the programme which aims to develop social insurance and health insurance policies sustainably. He said he expected that the local people would overcome difficulties to lead a stable life and to be able to join the voluntary social insurance and health insurance system to care for their own future.

Expressing gratitude to VSS leadership and representatives of donors, Deputy Chairman of Hau Giang Province’s People’s Committee Ho Thu Anh said “the support has been timely and meaningful to the province in its efforts to improve social welfare for the local people.”

In Kon Tum:

On December 17, VSS deputy director general Chu Manh Sinh and a VSS delegation worked with Kon Tum Province’s Social Security and the People’s Committee of Ngoc Hoi District to present social insurance books and health insurance cards to the impoverished people in the border mountainous district.

Speaking at the event, VSS deputy director general Chu Manh Sinh said “The social insurance books and health insurance cards, though small but of significance, will help the recipients to overcome initial difficulties, stabilising their family life, and try to regularly contribute to the voluntary social insurance scheme to enjoy pensions and healthcare in old age.”

On behalf of the VSS leadership, VSS deputy general director Chu Minh Sinh expressed thanks and gratitude to donors, especially Agribank, BIDV, Vietcombank, Vietinbank, MB bank and Vietnam Post for their meaningful actions and having accompanied Vietnam’s social insurance sector in social security activities, helping the needy people across the country to have a better life.

A total of eight social insurance books and 25 health insurance cards were given to the local people in Ngoc Hoi District.

“Previously, I couldn’t afford a health insurance card. Through this programme, I understand the importance and benefits of the State’s social insurance and health insurance policies ,” Alel, a resident in Dak Xu commune, said.

“Now I will make efforts to generate more income so that I can join the insurance system on a regular basis. And I will encourage other family members and relatives to do the same to enjoy the Party and State policies,” he said.

On behalf of the local people, Deputy Chairman of Ngoc Hoi District’s People’s Committee Y Lan expressed their since thanks to VSS and donors for their contributions to the programme.

“This is a humane programme, demonstrating the sharing of the community with the people in Ngoc Hoi District, contributing to social security for the locality,” she said.

Director of Kon Tum Province’s Social Security Vu Manh Chu said right from the beginning of 2022, the social insurance agency has actively responded to the “Giving needy people with social insurance books and health insurance cards” programme launched by VSS.

Accordingly, a total of 330 social insurance books and 1,000 health insurance cards valued over VND990 million were collected to give to the needy people in the province.

“Through the programme, I hope the local people will continue overcoming post-pandemic difficulties to have a stable life and expand production so that they can regularly join the voluntary social insurance system to have their own benefit and healthcare,” said Director of Kon Tum Province’s Social Security Vu Manh Chu./.
