Making amendments to list of medical services covered by health insurance

The Ministry of Health has issued Circular No 13/2020/TT-BYT dated June 22, 2020 on promulgating the list of medical services covered by health insurance, coverage percentage and conditions. The new circular makes amendments and supplements to some articles of Circular No 35/2016/TT-BYT dated September 28, 2016.

Circular 13/2020/TT-BYT, which will take effect on August 10, 2020, makes amendments to Clause 1, Article 1 of Circular 43/2013/TT-BYT on the list of medical techniques, corresponding technical and professional levels in the network of healthcare facilities; and Circular 21/2017/TT- BYT issued by the Minister of Health on the list of medical services covered by health insurance.
The new circular also makes amendments to the list of classification of surgeries and medical procedures attached in Circular 50/2014/TT-BYT as well as adds to the list of medical services that have been approved by the health ministry but have not been prescribed in previously-issued documents.
Circular No 13/2020/TT-BYT instructed amendments to coverage conditions, percentage and payment of medical services such as CT scan, PET/CT scan, coronary angiography, measuring average level of blood sugar to diagnose diabetes patients, testing Hepatitis B and C.
