Deputy General Director of the Vietnam Social Security (VSS) Dao Viet Anh had a working session with a delegation from the World Bank (WB) in Hanoi on January 7.

The delegation are here to attend a programme running from January 7 to 11, focusing on solutions to bolster the efficiency of social security management, key performance indicator development and parametric reform, within the framework of a project providing technical support on pension reform of the WB in Vietnam.

The WB will also work with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs; the Ministry of Finance; and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) on related issues.

Experts of the WB will look into factors affecting administrative reform in social security, the management of social security systems, payment mechanisms, and the satisfaction of people joining social insurance.

They will directly undertake a fact finding visit at different department of VSS. The activities were designed to realise the agreement between Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue and leaders of the WB in May 2018.

Speaking at the working session, Michael A.Kidd, expert on social welfare management and WB consultant, said that as a target of the cooperation, the WB will devise a report assessing the operational system of the VSS, propose a roadmap, and point out challenges in Vietnam’s pension reform.

Deputy General Director Anh voiced his hope that the programme would reap fruitful results. Previously, the WB helped the VSS in the health insurance sector and fund management and investment.
