Increasing the quality and efficiency of communication work on social insurance and health insurance was the main focus of a resolution passed by the Party Committee of the Vietnam Social Security (VSS) at a conference held in Hanoi on October 18.

In his opening remarks, VSS Deputy Director General Pham Luong Son stressed that the VSS considers communication work one of the most important tasks in enforcing policies and laws related to social insurance and health insurance. However, the sector’s communication work has yet to meet requirements as the implementation of the work remains passive, and units in the sector fail to coordinate with each other closely. In addition, the awareness of several collectives and individuals of this work is low. Some even disregard the work and consider it the task of leaders and senior officials, Son said.

The VSS aims to solve shortcomings and weaknesses of communication work, focusing resources on improving the effectiveness of communications on policies and laws related to social insurance and health insurance. It will exert efforts to promote achieved results, consolidate trust, and improve prestige in order to boost its sustainable development and contribute to ensuring social welfare. To achieve these targets, the VSS will carry out several measures, including improving awareness and responsibilities of collectives and individuals of communication work on social insurance and health insurance, increasing the capacity of communication officials and using infrastructure and investment effectively.

Attention is also paid to grasping information and public opinions, promoting the role and efficiency of the sector’s news outlets and websites, and increasing the quality of services. These measures aim to further improve the insurance sector’s services towards people at a time when the country is stepping up reforms comprehensively, continuing industrialization and modernization, and integrating into the global life intensively and extensively.
