Along with the digital transformation process, information technology (IT) is increasingly being used in the management, administration, and provision of services by Viet Nam Social Security

According to the August 2026 work performance report, VSS continued to carry out numerous tasks related to the operation, monitoring, and security assurance of IT systems. These are regular activities directly associated with the operations of units throughout the system in the digital environment.

IT Infrastructure and Security Requirements in the Digital Environment

A large-scale IT system includes not only softwares and applications but also computer networks, user accounts, email systems, network connections, and many other technical components. Therefore, maintaining stable operations and early detection of information security risks is a constant requirements.

In August 2026, through monitoring activities, the system detected 36 internal IP addresses at several local social security units connected to malware command-and-control servers; at the same time, 766 computers infected with malware were recorded. The email firewall blocked 2,004 emails containing malware and detected more than 1.3 million emails suspected of being spam.

These figures show that the digital environment is always accompanied by information security risks. As management and service delivery activities increasingly depend on IT systems, the monitoring, (SSO) system recorded 40,033 unsuccessful login attempts; the email system recorded 14,145 unsuccessful login attempts. Through monitoring, 2 accounts showed signs of having their login information exposed.

The above figures highlight the need to strengthen account management, control access privileges, and raise users’ awareness of using the system. In the digital environment, an account with exposed login information can also become an entry point for greater risks to data and systems.

From infrastructure and equipment to accounts and information security, IT tasks are therefore closely interconnected. For a system to operate stably, it needs appropriate infrastructure; equipment needs to be managed and updated; accounts must be controlled; and information security risks must be detected and addressed promptly.

Digital transformation is also not simply a matter of adding an application or process into the online environment. For  digital activivies to be sustainable in the long term, there must be a regularly operated technology system, together with appropriate processes for information security and management.

In the coming period, further improvement of infrastructure, equipment management, security updates, accounts control, and monitoring of information security risks will be important tasks, contributing to the stable operation of IT systems and supporting the digital transformation process of VSS./.
