Hanoi - The Service Department for Diplomatic Corps under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Social Security office Region I coordinated to organize a seminar last week on “Social Security Policy for Vietnamese Workers at Foreign Agencies and Organizations”.
The seminar was jointly organized by the Service Department for Diplomatic Corps (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the Social Security Office Region I
The seminar gathered representatives from diplomatic agencies, consular offices, international organizations, and foreign offices.
According to reports, nearly 5,500 Vietnamese workers are employed at foreign agencies and organizations in Hanoi. This is a specific workforce that regularly interacts with the international environment and plays a positive supporting role in the activities of foreign representative offices in Vietnam. However, they also face numerous difficulties in accessing and benefiting from social security policies due to differences in policy interpretations and legal mechanisms.
At the seminar, representatives from the Social Security office Region I introduced the fundamental new points of the Social Insurance Law No. 41/2024/QH15 and the Health Insurance Law No. 51/2024/QH15, which shall take effect in 2025; including social security policies for Vietnamese workers at foreign agencies and organizations.
During the discussion, delegates shared difficulties encountered in the process of participating in and benefiting from social insurance, such as complex administrative procedures, inconsistencies in the implementation of social insurance policies among different units, and ambiguity regarding the application of new regulations under the Social Insurance Law No. 41/2024/QH15. All inquiries were addressed by representatives of the Social Security office Region I and the Service Department for Diplomatic Corps, contributing to further understanding for workers.
"The seminar on social insurance policies for Vietnamese workers at foreign agencies and organizations is not only an activity providing legal information but also an important bridge between relevant authorities and workers, fostering consensus and mutual understanding among the involved parties," said a representative from the Service Department for Diplomatic Corps.
