He emphasised the importance of showing solidarity and compassion by donating a portion of their income and offering additional support if possible to help affected communities recover and stabilise their lives.

That initiative aligned with the tradition of unity and mutual support among the Vietnamese people and responds to calls from Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front.

Manh also added that typhoon had a complex trajectory and significantly impacted the lives and activities of residents, particularly in the northern provinces and cities.

As an organisation responsible for social security policies, the Viet Nam Social Security consistently monitored typhoon and flood conditions.

Before the typhoon, the agency’s leaders convened to ensure that all units and provincial social security offices were fully prepared.

They developed contingency plans to guarantee the timely and complete provision of social, health and unemployment benefits, including flexible solutions for healthcare services during natural disasters and streamlined administrative procedures.

Immediately after the typhoon, the agency organised an urgent meeting with relevant units to gather information on the status of social, health and unemployment benefits as well as the provision of healthcare services, particularly in areas severely affected by the typhoon.

The agency instructed local directors and managers of social security offices in storm-affected regions to coordinate directly with local authorities to implement flexible measures, ensuring that residents and patients receive their full entitlements with the quickest and simplest procedures possible.

The agency was committed to ensuring that no individual was deprived of healthcare due to disruptions in transportation, infrastructure or facilities following the typhoon and floods.

Local social security offices were told to assign staff to be on duty at healthcare facilities to promptly address any issues related to patient procedures, such as health insurance cards and referral documents, ensuring immediate care for all patients.

In cases where electricity or internet access was unavailable, direct processing would be implemented.

Priority would be given to treating patients with severe or life-threatening conditions resulting from the typhoon and floods.

The local social security offices had to coordinate with the health sector, healthcare facilities, and relevant agencies on ensuring the availability of medication and medical equipment for patients and transferring patients to higher-level facilities if required.

Health insurance services would be provided and medication would be supplied to those who could not access healthcare facilities due to conditions triggered by the disaster.

Advance payments for health insurance services must be made to healthcare facilities to ensure uninterrupted care and prevent any financial shortages affecting the facilities./.VSS
