The operation of VssID - Digital Social Insurance application on mobile devices is believed to be a strong breakthrough in the digital transformation of Viet Nam Social Security over the last two years.

Statistics show that as of July 31, 2022, over 26.3 million accounts have been registered and used the application so far.

There are more than 737,807 people using their health insurance cards on the application for examination and treatment, covered by health insurance, at medical facilities.

It is reported that more than 6,000 items of feedback about the application have been sent to the agency; including comments expressing appreciation for the usefulness of the application.

In November 2020, the application was officially put into operation by Viet Nam Social Security.

It has provided information on social, health and unemployment insurance policies; on the process of participating in and enjoying benefits for participants; on public services related to social insurance to help participants actively manage their information, and directly supervise the implementation of the policies to ensure their own benefits.

People use the health insurance card integrated with the VssID application for examination and treatment at medical facilities

Especially, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of the application has effectively contributed to minimising direct contact as well as reducing the risk of COVID-19 infection.

Notably, since June 1, 2021, people can use their health insurance electronic card, which is integrated into the application, to go to medical facilities for examination and treatment instead of bringing the printed health insurance card.

The move is considered a practical step in line with the requirements of administrative reform and digital transformation of the social insurance sector, bringing practical benefits to both health insurance participants and medical facilities.

Preventing profiteering from social, health insurance funds

Through the application, users can not only track information about their process of participating in social, health and unemployment insurance but also track their history of examination and treatment covered by the health insurance.

It is also considered one of the effective solutions to limit the abuse and profiteering of social and health insurance funds.

Staff of the Viet Nam Social Security support people to install and use the application.

Recently, Viet Nam Social Security has received many complaints from the application’s users about incorrect information in their history of examination and treatment covered by the health insurance.

Some complained that they have never used their health insurance cards to go to medical facilities for examination and treatment covered by health insurance. However, the application recorded some visits.

Based on the complaints, the social insurance agency has ordered relevant units to investigate and handle violations relating to profiteering from the social and health insurance funds to ensure the benefits of health insurance participants.

The agency said the application continues to be upgraded in order to provide users with the most convenient and useful features.

In the process of operating, upgrading the application and synchronising data of the participants, there may be inaccuracies.

Therefore, the social insurance agency has directed its branches in provinces and cities nationwide to regularly complete and synchronise data of participants of social, health and unemployment insurance to ensure their benefits are met.

The social insurance agency recommends that people actively install and use the application to capture information, monitor the process of participating in and benefiting from social and health insurance policies and then actively protect their interests.

As soon as they see incorrect data on the application, participants should immediately report it to the social insurance agency’s branch in the locality or the Viet Nam Social Security via the hotline 1900.9068; or via the Viet Nam Social Security Portal (https://www.baohiemxahoi.gov.vn/hoidap/Pages/default.aspx); or Facebook Fanpage of Viet Nam Social Security (https://www.facebook.com/BHXHVietNam999) for further support and handling.
