Social security key to reduce economic and social impact of coronavirus
In light of the impact of COVID-19, the new coronavirus, on regional and global economic outlooks, the International Social Security Association (ISSA) highlights the key role played by social security in reducing the related social and economic impact. Calling for preparation for an increased need for health care, unemployment and other benefits, the ISSA draws on lessons learnt from past crisis situations.

State authorities on social insurance
The social insurance system will ensure benefits for employees on the basis of contributions from employees and employers. The essence of social insurance is the guarantee to compensate a part or replace income of employees when their incomes are cut or lost due to illness, maternity, labor accident, occupational disease, unemployment, end of working age or death on the basis of contribution to the social insurance fund organized by the State.

Vietnam Social Security deploys significant tasks from the beginning of the year
Urgently participate in and direct the provincial and city social insurance authorities to actively coordinate with the Department of Health and the medical examination and treatment facilities in the area to create the most favorable conditions for patients with health insurance cards if suspected to have Corona virus infection (Covid-19); set out and perform tasks of 2020 from the early days; full and timely payment of pensions and social insurance allowances for beneficiaries during the Lunar New Year, etc. These are the highlights of the Report of Vietnam Social Security on the implementation of Resolution No. 01/NQ-CP dated January 1, 2020 by the Government.

Coordination in creating the national database on health insurance and medical sector
On March 4, representatives of Vietnam Social Security and the Ministry of Health had a meeting to discuss about the coordination of IT application between the two sectors. Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long and Deputy General Director of Vietnam Social Security Pham Luong Son co-chaired the meeting.

MoLISA supports companies affected by COVID-19
Minister of Labour, Invalid and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung has ordered units to urgently review the provisions of the labour law, social insurance and related documents to guide companies in handling the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, including policies for employees that continued to receive wages, job discontinuation or companies that delayed their business and production.

Ministries and agencies asked to integrate services into national portal
