Vietnam Social Security’s external information work records remarkable outcomes

Vietnam Social Security (VSS) recently organised a conference in Ninh Binh Province to review its performance on external information of the sector in the northern region between 2013 and 2020.

Addressing the conference, VSS deputy general director Dao Viet Anh said the VSS this year marks its 25th founding anniversary, which is considered a landmark in the development process, in the context of the country’s important events and evolving global situation.

In three consecutive years between 2017 and 2019, the VSS ranked in top position among the Government’s agencies in IT application and public administration reform, including removing administrative procedures, building databases, issuing social insurance codes and providing online public services.

The launching of the mobile device-based social security application VssID on November 16 is a step forward, contributing to the implementation of assigned tasks in Resolution No 28-NQ/TW on social security policy reform and timely provision of information on social security, health insurance and unemployment insurance policies.

This shows the humanitarian values ​​of social security policies of the Party and State, creating "a great inspiration for all actors in the innovation and digital transformation ecosystem of our country," he said.

He urged VSS units and officials working in the external information section to be creative and make efforts to study and select plans that are relevant with practical requirements.

Overview of the conference

Nguyen Tien Thanh, head of the International Co-operation Department, said the social security’s external information work had gained positive achievements with effective and practical outcomes.

He highlighted that the external activities of the VSS always follow the Party’s directions and State policies in the context of Vietnam’s deep regional and global integration, strong impacts of the fourth industrial revolution and freedom of labour movement.

The VSS has also engaged in a number of diplomatic activities and expanded partnerships with many organisations around the world. This has created a premise for external information officials to improve their position as well as build a professional, modern, dynamic and creative image of the Vietnamese social security sector which is a friend and reliable partner of the international welfare community, he said.

The VSS has paid attention to providing training to equip officials at key positions with external information knowledge as well as English communication and professional skills in order to help them improve their capacity.

The officials have the opportunity to participate in training courses on external information, foreign affairs and journalism, he said.

Delegates at the conference discussed solutions to improve the quality of external information work in the 2021-25 period including necessary external information skills and obstacles in implementing the work at the local social security agencies.

They agreed on the necessity to improve the capacity of working officials including communication skills for those in charge of policy dissemination work and issue detailed instructions on the external information work at the local level.
