From April 3, 2019, social and health insurance participants can trace their social, health and unemployment insurance contributions and benefits through SMS services.

This is part of a document sent by the Information Technology Centre under the Vietnam Social Security (VSS) to VSS branches nationwide. It aims to implement a multi-media interaction system between people and businesses, and social insurance agencies.

Accordingly, there are two types of text messages, comprising VSS-branded messages for social insurance agencies and formatted messages for units and individuals.

With formatted messages, units and individuals can use mobile phones to trace the process of contribution and settlement of social, health and unemployment insurance policies by texting formatted messages to 8179.

Units and individuals can search for:

- Social insurance participation duration by texting TC BHXH (social insurance code).

- Periods of time of joining social insurance by texting TC BHXH (social insurance code) (from month-year) (to month-year), with no space between month and year. For example, April 2019 can be texted as 42019.

- Years of joining social insurance by texting TC BHXH (social insurance code) (from year) (to year).

- Duration of use of health insurance cards by texting TC BHYT (health insurance code).

- Document status by texting TC HS (document code).

Meanwhile, VSS-branded messages will be sent by social insurance agencies to representatives of businesses after they pay social, health and unemployment insurance contributions for labourers. Through the messages, the agencies will inform labourers about the suspension of social insurance contribution when businesses stop paying social insurance contributions for them. Besides, the messages will be sent to units and individuals after document settlement is completed. The agencies will also send messages to household health insurance participants 30 days before their cards expire.

To implement the SMS services, social insurance agencies will collect phone numbers of representatives of businesses and individuals.

The VSS hopes that the implementation of the multimedia interaction system will contribute to improving its services and help people and businesses take the initiative in tracing their social, health and unemployment insurance contributions as well as benefits brought about by the policies. The VSS, therefore, will work together with social insurance agencies to handle violations in this field, protecting the rights of labourers.
