Gov't issues labor market development support program

The Prime Minister has signed a decision issuing labor market development support program through 2030.

The program aims to create a solid foundation synchronous development of labor market factors, thereby contributing to effective mobilization, allocation and utilization of resources in favor of promoting socio-economic development, shifting labor structure and ensuring linkages between domestic labor market and those of other countries in the region and the world.

The program sets out several concrete targets, including raising the ratio of trained workers having degrees and certificates to about 30% by 2025 and 35-40% by 2030.

The country’s knowledge ranking in global innovation index (GII) is expected to rank 60th by 2025 and 55th by 2030.

The proportion of workers with information technology skills is expected to increase to 80% in the next five years and to 90% by 2030 while unemployment rate among the youth and untrained youngsters will be brought to under 8%.

According to the General Statistics Office, in the fourth quarter of 2020, the number of employed people aged 15 and above was nearly 54 million, down by 945,000 people compared to the same period of the previous year./.
