Public Health Portal officially launched: To promote publicization of health information

On November 20, the Ministry of Health held the launch ceremony of the Public Health Portal across 5 areas: pharmacy and cosmetics, medical equipment, food safety, examination and treatment, and public administration, with the aim to promote publicity and transparency of information related to health services.

Attending the ceremony were Assoc.Prof. Dr. Nguyen Truong Son - Deputy Minister of Health; Deputy General Director of Vietnam Social Security Pham Luong Son; Deputy General Manager of Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) Hoang Son; EuroCham Vice Chairman Tran Hai Minh; along with representatives of the Government Office's leaders and ministries, departments, branches; heads of Departments, General Departments, Ministry Offices, Inspectorate; units under and directly under the Ministry of Health and a number of provincial and municipal Health Departments.

Delivering the opening speech, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Long - Minister of Health emphasized, the Public Health Portal is the official channel of the Ministry of Health for people and businesses to look up information on drug and medical equipment prices, medical supplies, diagnostic biologicals, medical examination and treatment fees, listed prices, bidding prices, information on circulating or recalled products, results of treatment administrative procedures and violations in advertisement, etc. Through the Public Health Portal, people exercise the right to inform themselves and monitor services provided by the health sector.

According to Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long, the launch of the Public Health Portal is a primary step where information on the fields managed by the Ministry of Health will step by step be publicized for people and businesses to look up on the Internet anywhere, anytime.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hoang Son, Viettel Group Deputy General Director, pledged to continue accompanying the Ministry of Health, perfecting the features of the Portal, continuously applying new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), virtual assistant (chatbot) in user interaction or automatically answering questions; applying blockchain technology to control information in data linkage, ensuring monitoring of the update process history; ensuring absolute safety and confidentiality for the Public Health Portal to effectively operate.

Son added, the Portal is the foundation to establish the trust between authorities, businesses and people. The diverse relationships between stakeholders are governed by the principles of transparency and trust, which are also the core of a constructivist government. New values are formed on the basis of operating civilization, by modern tools and aspirations to serve common efforts.

In the first phase, Viettel has focused on standardizing data and building information standards, online data integration providing basic features for data management, directly or indirectly handle the output of information reports.

In the next phase, Viettel will continue to apply advanced technologies to improve the efficiency of the practical application of the system, to best serve users, such as the function of new updates, specialized search, integrating blockchain technology, AI, Chatbot for fast lookup and data integrity.

*** The Public Health Portal of the Ministry of Health is at: https://congkhaiyte.moh.gov.vn. This is the result of coordination between the Ministry of Health and the Viettel Group to publicize medical information across 5 areas:

1. Pharmacy and cosmetics: To publicize prices of circulating and bidding drugs; to publicize the wrongful and violating enterprises. As of November 20, 2020, 60,228 publicity of wholesale drug prices are expected to be declared and re-declared; 41,389 bid-winning drug prices at medical establishments.

2. Medical equipment: To publicize the bidding prices and listed prices of medical equipment, medical supplies and bio-chemicals. As of November 20, 2020, more than 15,000 information on medical equipment, medical supplies, diagnostic biologicals, and bid-winning results has been made public.

3. Food safety: To publicize information on circulating and recalled functional food products; to publicize advertisment of functional food products and violations in advertising of these products. As of November 20, 2020, more than 28,000 information about functional foods have been licensed to receive the publication, 2,700 functional foods have been certified with the advertisement content and publicized handling of violations on food safety.

4. Examination and treatment: To publicize medical examination and treatment fees using health insurance cards and service listing prices at medical establishments. As of November 20, 2020, 1,900 items of medical examination and treatment using health insurance cards fees were publicized and publicly evaluated by 83 criterias and information on listing prices of medical examination and treatment services of over 1,490 medical facilities and 16,000 related health facilities nationwide.

5. Public administration: To publish the results of the administrative procedure handling of the Ministry of Health. As of November 20, 2020, there have been more than 500 results./.
