Ha Noi launches action month for the poor

The Standing Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Ha Noi – the municipal Encouragement Board of “For the Poor” Fund, on October 15 launched an action month “For the Poor” 2019.

At the launching ceremony, the Viet Nam Fatherland Front of Ha Noi – the municipal Encouragement Board of “For the Poor” Fund received more than VNĐ7.2 billion (US$313,000) in donations from organisations, enterprises and individuals.

The action month “For the Poor” 2019 will last from October 17 to November 18.

To make the campaign exceed expected targets, the Viet Nam Fatherland Front of Ha Noi hopes authorities, fatherland front committees, sectors, organisations, enterprises and individuals in the capital city will take part.

The Viet Nam Fatherland Front of Ha Noi presented funds to build five houses, buy three cows and two motorbikes for poor households in the area.

After 18 years of implementing the campaign “Day for the Poor” launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the “For the Poor” Fund has collected more than VNĐ534 billion ($23.1 million).

In 2018 alone, the capital city collected VNĐ60.8 trillion ($2.6 billion), built 2,807 houses and repaired 1,603 downgraded houses for the poor. It also supported breeding stocks for 3,591 poor households, and provided health examinations for 1,686 poor people. Since then the rate of poor households in the capital reduced to 1.16 per cent./.
