Over 111,500 employees be sent abroad in nine months

The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) said that 111,507 workers were sent to work abroad from January to September, up 8% compared to the same period of last year and exceeds the full-year target by 1.37%.
Japan was the largest recipient of Vietnamese workers with 55,690, followed by Taiwan (China) with 46,166 and the Republic of Korea with 2,449.
Other labour markets receiving large numbers of Vietnamese workers included China, Hungary, and Singapore, Romania, Poland and Saudi Arabia.

Vietnam is currently the largest source of foreign workers in Japan. As of December 2020, about 345,000 Vietnamese people were working in the East Asian country.
According to the MoLISA, Vietnam and Japan are working together to carry out a project helping Vietnamese workers seek suitable jobs in Japan, as well as gaining access to employment information after returning home. The ministry also assists businesses to seek manpower in order to fill their vacancies.
In order to protect workers' interests in Japan, the Ministry has also signed co-operation agreements with many Japanese prefectures such as Chiba, Saitama, Gunma, Kanagawa, and Nagano.
This year, the MoLISA has also moved to explore new markets for Vietnamese workers, especially in Europe, such as Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Croatia.

Hanoi has implemented solutions to support and create jobs for workers in the city amid challenging labour market conditions.
Accordingly, Hanoi authorities have entrusted the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP)’s chapter in Hanoi to provide loans to individuals and welfare beneficiaries, with a total amount of VND1.8 trillion, creating jobs for 34,600 labourers.
The Hanoi Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs said that over 3,000 workers have been sent to Japan, Taiwan (China), and the Republic of Korea to work under fixed-term labour contracts in nine months.
During the period, the Hanoi Employment Service Centre (HESC) organized 191 job fairs, attracting the participation of 5,500 enterprises and more than 13,500 people were recruited.
Most notably, an online job fair connecting eight provinces and cities, namely Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, and Ha Nam, which took place on September 28, attracted 121 units and businesses, offering a total of 15,578 job opportunities.
As many as 65,600 people received assistance from the capital’s unemployment insurance fund with a total amount of nearly VND1.82 trillion. Meanwhile, close to VND3 billion has been allocated to support vocational training for a total of 663 labourers./.
