Creative and flexible solutions to support workers and businesses facing difficulties due to COVID-19

Regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, VSS has deployed creative, flexible and appropriate solutions suitable to the situation, effectively implementing policies to support workers and businesses, facing difficulties in this time.

As of December 31, 2021, the number of people participating in social insurance was estimated at over 16.5 million, an increase of 2.2% compared to 2020, reaching 33.77% of the labour force within the age group.

Meanwhile, the number of people participating in unemployment insurance was nearly 13.4 million, up 0.4% compared to 2020, reaching 27.34% of the labour force within the age group. The number of people participating in health insurance was more than 88.8 million people, an increase of 0.9% compared to 2020, reaching a coverage rate of 91.01% of the population.

Addressing the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai praised the remarkable achievements made by the VSS in the past year, contributing to the stability and socio-economic development of the country and ensuring social security for the people.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai presented the Labour Order, Third Class to the VSS, for outstanding achievements in State administrative reform, in the 2011- 2020 period.

Deputy PM asked the sector to focus on implementing eight groups of solutions in 2022, in which, attention should be paid to closely continue to follow the guidelines of the Party, the policies and laws of the State and the direction of the competent authorities, in line with tasks and solutions outlined at resolutions of the National Assembly and the Government.

In addition, the VSS was requested to closely coordinate with ministries and agencies to review and perfect institutions, strategies and planning in the fields of social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance; as well as review legal problems related to provisions of current legal documents and propose amendments to the competent authorities, ensuring synchroneity, feasibility and consistency with resolutions of the Government, and remove obstacles and difficulties under the management of the VSS.

Under the authorisation of the State President, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai presented the Labour Order, Third Class to the VSS, for outstanding achievements in State administrative reform, in the 2011- 2020 period.
