Health insurance premiums for students from July 1st, 2023

From July 1st, 2023, there will be changes in the health insurance premiums for students due to the increase in the base salary as stipulated in the Government's Decree No. 24/2023/NĐ-CP.

According to Clause 4, Article 12 of the amended Law on Health Insurance and Article 4 of Government Decree No. 146/2018/NĐ-CP dated October 17, 2018, students who receive state budget support fall into the category of paying health insurance premiums independently and are not considered part of a household health insurance participation group.
Specifically, the monthly health insurance premiums for students is calculated as 4.5% of the base salary (with the state budget supporting 30% and students paying the remaining 70%).
From July 1st, 2023, the base salary is 1.8 million VND/month according to Government Decree No. 24/2023/NĐ-CP.

Therefore, the health insurance for students is as follows: 4.5% x 1,800,000 VND x 12 months = 972,000 VND/year. Of this amount, students pay 680,400 VND/year (as they receive a 30% premiums support from the state budget).
